As you may know, I've had rather a few Barry M dramas in my short life as a blogger.
From the good, the bad, and the ugly however, I always seem to be drawn back to their polishes time and time again.
Probably something to do with the amazing prices...
So yes, once again I'm here with a Barry M nail product review, (can I get a 'woop woop'!)
and this time it's on the new Gelly Hi Shine range, which are on 3 for 2 in Boots right now as we speak...
Ahh look at them all shiny and new, just waiting to be used...
I got two shades, (my third and free product being different, and so probably in an inevitable Barry M review in not too distant future) Blueberry and Blood Orange.
Blueberry lies. It is actually a lot less blueberry, and a lot more of a gorgeous Powder Blue than in fact it's name, and the photo suggests.
Or maybe it's just that the photo depicts the actual colour, and my first impression was under the fluorescent lighting of Boots on a very dull and rainy Wednesday afternoon - no chance of natural light there!
It is however, regardless of what colour your eyes or lighting make it, beautiful.
It literally 'pops' right off your nails, and as someone who has previously used a pale blue-ish shade and found it to be the least-flattering colour physically possible, (despite the tan I had at the time) this is the exact opposite.
Blood Orange also lies. Well...I think it does.
I'm yet to wear this but in the bottle it is a very, VERY vibrant red colour, but again seems to flicker between being an orangey red, as I guess it should be given its name, and a pinky red.
Either way, it reminds me of a tropical fruit, so seems to suggest a slightly more Summery take on red nails - and who doesn't want to rock the absolute glamour that is red nails all year round?
Here are my nails complete with 'Blueberry', and the generic 'holding-nail-polish-while-displaying-painted-nails' pose.
Yeahhh we all do it :p
Two coats and I was done.
I could have possibly got away with one, but I did two anyway. Two gives a more opaque finish, but also,
I have way too much time on my hands.
It looks and feels like a regular, albeit thicker than some, nail polish.
I'm not sure if I wasn't a little disappointed not to be putting actual gel type stuff on my nails, but I like it all the same.
...
I would have loved to be able to comment on the 'hi shine' element of these polishes, however a slight mishap meant that I went to bed thinking they were dry and ermm, they weren't.
That's right; they lied again, and I woke up with a pretty awesome 'cotton bed sheets' effect pattern sprinkled across each and every nail.
Hi shine + bed = bye shine.
Might recommend it to Barry M and they can bring it out as a new spin on the magnetic range.
Cotton print nails - niiiiiiiiice.
P.S *edit*
I lied too.
Since writing this my mum, (and most avid reader - literally spotted it within ten minutes) has pointed out that I actually bought these in Superdrug, not Boots.
Silly Holly!
However they are still on 3 for 2 in Boots and I was looking at them in Boots before going to Superdrug...where they are also on 3 for 2 waheyy!!
I love the colour of the blue polish! I'm a big fan of Barry M varnishes!
