This is a little late... I actually wore this LAST Saturday (22nd) as it was much, much warmer that day and I could get away with wearing my beloved denim jacket which I would have no doubt froze to death in this week.
I was just going to a friend's house so opted for something comfy, but still 'me'.
What I have on:
H&M black vest top (underneath)
H&M green sleeveless shirt - a lot more green in person and so pretty! (but needs ironing loooads)
New Look black tube skirt
Primark black tights
F&F at Tesco denim jacket from Summer 2011, I'm not ashamed :) I normally tie this jacket up at the front but wanted a more slouchy look on this occasion, plus it looked better with the shirt.
I just wore this with some Primark leopard print dolly shoes, because for me to wear a whole out-fit and not get some leopard print in there is physically impossible.
Recently I decided I was a bit nippy and as it had been a while, it was time for some new clothes :)
I made a deal with myself that I would go in only 2 shops - Primark, and H&M, purely because they're cheap, and I want to get as much as I can for as little as possible. I rarely, (and I mean soooooo rarely) ever spend more than £20 on an item of clothing. Because fashion changes fast, I mostly want versatile things I can wear for home as well as work. In fact, if I'm honest, when I go clothes shopping, I look at whether it would be suitable for work first, then home. If I'm even more honest, when I'm at home I am more likely to be found in a pair of my other half's trackies and my dressing gown haha...
Just to note, I set out to buy lots of warm clothes, ermmm...I'll let you judge how badly I failed. Appeared that I was a bit eager and beat the shops to it. Going in to town just 1 week later and I would have actually succeeded in my mission. My bad :'(
H&M:
H&M skinny trousers - £14.99
H&M top...mildly Winter-suitable YES!! £9.99
H&M top £7.99 ...another Winter fail but I like it.
I love the zip detail on the back.
H&M shirt - camera doesn't do the colour justice!! £7.99
H&M cuff - the only item of jewellery I bought! £2.99
The one H&M I don't have a picture of is the black vest top shown in the collective picture, for some reason it escaped my camera, and is now in the wash...hmm a camera shy t-shirt?
PRIMARK:
Primark shirt £10.00 - love the gold detail on the buttons.
The back of the shirt
Primark £2.90 - Coathangers haha!! Gone are the days of hanging 5 items per hanger :)
Primarni staple, socks, think these were £2, says 'improved quality' on them - I hope so, last years had holes in after 2 wears!
Apologies for terrible picture here!! Primark slippers - £5 and SOOO WARMMMM!!
BARRATTS:
I lied. I also went to Barratts, which I don't think I've been to for about 3 years lol. But how pretty are these? I decided the platform will be good for in the rain as I never learn and seem to think that dolly shoes are invincible. 2 minutes and 1 puddle later I realise I was wrong...
I also can't bear to give in to wearing boots quite yet, it's just too painful and like admitting to myself that Winter is here. I'd also probably not take them off until next May when I deem the sun to be strong enough, so YEY for Autumnal alternatives ey?!
Barratts £20 (20% discount) Flatforms! I adore the colour of these...
...However they have given me blisters :(
Soooo...that is all. I left town feeling pretty proud of myself, but also sad at the lack of Winter woolies in the shops at that point. Ah well...just means another shopping trip in the future I guess ;)
So I have a big wishlist, and limited funds. This makes online shopping or even looking difficult, and I rarely ever do it, due to the disaster that it will no doubt spell for my bank account. Anyhoooo, for the purposes of my fashion cravings, and my shiny new blog which is just waiting to be posted on...I gave in and did some snooping...
As it happens, I had my first shopping spree in over 6 months last weekend... *coming soon* and so felt that it was (ahem) 'safe' to look online without wanting to cry.
Lets just say that these are a few that I would love to fill my wardrobe with:
(Note: I purposely didn't look at the prices, so I can't post them, it is a wishlist and purely that, no need for reality haha.)
Topshop playsuit - What's not to like? Black, gold, chain print, goes with anything and everything :)
River Island shirt - Red is one of my favourite colours, and I love how casual and versatile this is, it would probably keep you warm as well with a few layers under.
New Look shirt - How cute and dainty is this? I'm not usually a 'cute and dainty' type of dresser but I would just adore this, especially teamed with some black skinnies or leggings and a tube skirt and my hair in a bun.
New Look velvet shorts - With a blazer and tights with red lips in Winter, day or night I'd wear them yes pleeeeease! OOH or with the white blouse from above hmm... *getting ideas, must stop)
H&M straight leg trousers - I love straight leg trousers, and I love pretty prints and generally pretty things. These are eye-catching and would look great with any plain top to make them stand out.
ASOS beanie - A year ago I hated hats and wanted to burn them, (lol) this year I am like craving one!
Now for jewellery...I warn you, the amount of gold I am about to post could blind even Mr. T.
So, now I've drooled all over my screen and a few websites...I think it's time for bed. Feeling proud of myself for looking on all these websites and not once pressing 'Add to Basket'.
Just going to leave you with one final item, the item which will probably break my will power at some point in the future.
I am a 90's kid, and like most people, I love music. I was brought up around music every day; my dad likes to think of himself as some kind of DJ and owns, (fills every space of the house, floor to ceiling) thousands of CD's and Vinyl's dating from the 60's until now, which he plays on a sound system the size of our living room. Being a Punk in the 80's, a lot of his music is geared towards a more Rock audience...so it's anyone's guess how I ended up listening to Jay Z and Skepta.
Weirdly, the music I remember the most from being a child isn't the Punk Rock/Nu-Romantic type that he listened to most at all, but the 90's dance, Reggae, Hip Hop, and the regular 90's Pop songs which are now classics. Maybe I'm just wired up to block out music which is too heavy on the drums and guitars lol...
Anyway, because music was a massive part of my life and kind of an escapism, I have such strong memories attached to a lot of these songs, and even though many are commercial, chart based songs from back in the day, they are special for me :)
A few classics, (mostly from my dad's collection) that I remember:
UB40 - I Can't Help Falling in Love With You
All Saints - Under The Bridge
Dr. Dre - Still DRE
The Tampera - Feel It
House of Pain - Jump Around (Mrs Doubtfire anyone?)
East 17 - Stay Another Day
Wu Tang Clan - Gravel Pit
The Fugees - Killing Me Softly
Massive Attack - Teardrop
2 Unlimited - No Limit
Living Joy - Dreamer
Space - Female of the Species
Haddaway - What is Love
Air - Sexy Boy
Culture Beat - Mr. Vain
Eiffel 65 - Blue Da Ba Dee
N-Trance - Set You Free
Inner Circle - Sweat
Whigfield - Saturday Night (dancing at a wedding age 4)
Sonique - Feels So Good
Snap - Rhythm is a Dancer
Artful Dodger ft. Craig David - Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo' Selecta)
The Beautiful South - Rotterdam
The Cranberries - Linger
Groove Armada - At the River
Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman
REM - Everybody Hurts
Usher - You Make Me Wanna
Beats International _ Dub Be Good To Me
No Doubt - Don't Speak
Blur - Parklife
Babylon Zoo - Spaceman
En Vogue - Don't Let Go
SWV - Right Here
Lightning Seeds - 3 Lions (because I love football)
Oh and anything by The Vengaboys and The Spice Girls...because I was a 90's kid lets face it!
A few special mentions:
All Saints - Never Ever:
This one was always on the radio, as well as my dad playing it. Pure classic, and I wish sooooo much that All Saints were around these days, I love how they're a girl band but not cheesy in the slightest, just cool with a ton of attitude.
Eminem - The Real Slim Shady.
I used to rap along to not only this, but his entire first two albums...I was 8, and that's a bit worrying. Eminem can do no wrong though in my eyes, and his music was a big part of my childhood as well as now.
Moby - Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad
This was the first ever song that made me cry. And I was too young to even understand the lyrics...strange child I was!
Coolio - Gangsters Paradise
I don't think this one needs an explanation.
Bobby Brown - 2 Can Play That Game
RAVE EVERYONE!!
Oasis - Wonderwall
This song is beautiful.
Going to stop there before I get even more carried away haha.
This is mental for me. I'm writing a blog. I'm writing something which may actually be seen by the public...although lets face it, it is much more likely that the only views this will ever get is from me checking whether or not I've had any views. Oh dear...
So, the basics; My name is Holly. I turned 22 two days ago, and I am a girl. Okay...so that's obvious, what I mean is that I love all things girly, like truly and stereotypically girly! If there was a book written about a random girl, I would be her, (apart from my love, love, LOVE of football which for the sake of this post I will forget right after this close bracket -->>).
Just a few photo's of me...putting a face to a name and all that :)
I've decided to write a blog because I spend a great deal of time reading blogs, drooling over peoples amazingly styled and beautifully artistic blogs and watching YouTube video's, which HELL TO THE NO I just can't do, way too scary, and possibly nobody would understand my Yorkshire accent.
So, I'm rambling. I do that a lot...but to cut things short I'll just say that I'm going to blog about fashion, makeup, food, TV, life, art of the non-snobby variety and probably any old thing that comes into my head to be honest. I also have no idea how to write a blog and do all those fancy beautiful things that others do to make them pretty. Bear with me, I'm new :).
*Random fact: While writing this, spell check taught me that 'truly' doesn't have an 'e' in.
